According to the report, Cambodian enforcement agencies carried out anti-scam operations at two suspected sites in Banteay Meanchey and Kep provinces on April 7 under Prime Minister Hun Manet’s leadership, detaining 153 foreign suspects. The report interpreted the action as a message that Cambodia would not serve as a refuge for crime.

Kep police reportedly detained 14 foreigners and seized relevant evidence at a rented property in Kep city. In Poipet, Banteay Meanchey province, officers reportedly detained 139 people and seized computers, mobile phones and other equipment in a four-storey, 52-room building at Orkide Casino. The first floor was allegedly used for scams and the remaining floors for accommodation.
The government reportedly described anti-scam enforcement as a national priority. Under Interior Minister Sar Sokha, the ministry was strengthening nationwide coordination between the National Police and local agencies and maintaining systematic action against transnational scam networks.
