Cambodia’s Ministry of the Royal Palace issued a notice on April 18 outlining health arrangements for the head of state, King Norodom Sihamoni. It says the King has agreed to undergo surgery at a hospital in Beijing, China, as arranged by his doctors. From April 18, he will remain in hospital for examinations and treatment, followed by a postoperative stay on medical advice.

The notice gives no reason for the surgery. The report describes treatment in Beijing as a sign of Cambodia–China health cooperation and conveys wishes for a successful operation and a speedy recovery.
