Cambodia’s Ministry of the Royal Palace said in an April 27 statement that King Norodom Sihamoni’s condition had improved slightly after major surgery while receiving treatment in Beijing. The King had previously disclosed on April 10 that medical examinations had diagnosed prostate cancer.
The statement said the King continued to receive postoperative care from the medical team, including intravenous treatment, pain relief medication and medicine to assist recovery after surgery. Doctors advised him to remain in hospital for observation and care so that they could monitor his recovery.
King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk expressed their gratitude through official channels, thanking senior Buddhist leaders, national leaders and people across Cambodia for their prayers and well wishes during this period.
