Summary

Governor Mang Sineth meets Singapore Ambassador Steven Pang on April 28, outlines the province’s potential and seeks support to attract investors and visitors and strengthen economic cooperation.

Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth received Steven Pang, Singapore’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cambodia, for a courtesy meeting at the provincial hall on the afternoon of April 28, 2026.

The governor outlined the province’s potential and sought Singapore’s support in encouraging investors to invest in the province and visit it as tourists. He said Preah Sihanouk had road, water, air and rail infrastructure, as well as an international deep-water port providing access to global markets.

The meeting account said Cambodia’s government had designated Preah Sihanouk as a model multipurpose special economic zone, focusing on modern logistics and transport services, an integrated city and nature-based island tourism. The government had also invested in concrete urban roads and was promoting tree planting towards development as a green and smart city.

Prime Minister Hun Manet had also introduced a special programme to promote investment in the province, with measures focused on tax exemptions and simplified administrative procedures.

Steven Pang thanked the governor for the welcome and described the province as having considerable investment and tourism potential. He referred to development from the era of Norodom Sihanouk, through Hun Sen’s leadership and under current Prime Minister Hun Manet, as well as the port’s growth as an important gateway for international trade.

The ambassador said the visit aimed to explore investment opportunities in Cambodia, especially Preah Sihanouk, and promote cooperation in trade, transport and exports of Cambodian agricultural products to Singapore and other international markets.

The two sides agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in the green economy, energy, technology and infrastructure. The report viewed the visit as contributing to the promotion of investment, trade and human-resource development in the province.
