According to the original report, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) Sun Chanthol told the Cambodia Investment Forum on May 7 that the government was strengthening action against telecommunications and online fraud, seeking to improve the country’s security image and investor confidence.
He referred to the anti-scam law that entered into force on April 6, 2026, as a legal basis for addressing online fraud and related cross-border crime. The report said enforcement agencies were continuing targeted operations intended to curb such offences.
He described anti-scam enforcement as a government priority pursued under the national leadership’s coordination, with the aim of eliminating the criminal activity and improving the safety, stability and credibility of the investment and tourism environment.
Sun Chanthol urged investors to retain confidence in Cambodia and communicate its policies and actions to others. He said he hoped joint efforts by the government and wider society would present Cambodia internationally as a “100% safe investment and tourism destination”. This was a goal and aspiration expressed in the speech.
