According to the report, Cambodia’s National Police and the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration carried out checks at two buildings in Poipet on May 7. They found nineteen foreign nationals suspected of involvement in online scams and seized electronic equipment and related items.
The report identified one site as the casino building named “银河国际娱乐城” in the source. Police found seven foreign nationals there, including Chinese and Indonesian nationals, together with passports and equipment and tools suspected of use in online scams. The report said some tools found at the site were also suspected of use in abuse.
Police found twelve foreign nationals in the other building. The report cited a preliminary investigation as suggesting they had been hiding there to avoid law-enforcement checks. At the time of reporting, the people and items had been handed to the relevant authorities, and the case remained under investigation.
