Summary

AKP’s contemporaneous report says the May 4 seminar discussed travel trends, air connectivity, prices and source markets, with sustainable growth and higher visitor spending among its goals.

According to AKP’s May 5 report, Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism Huot Hak and Tourism Working Group Co-Chair Lu Meng jointly presided over a seminar titled “Assessment and Identification of Priority Tourism Markets for 2027–2028” at the ministry on May 4, 2026.

Participants included relevant ministries and institutions, Ministry of Tourism leaders, tourism associations, the executive unit of the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB), tourism operators, airlines and other private sector representatives.

The seminar discussed regional and global travel trends affecting demand, and competitiveness issues including air connectivity, prices and the positioning of tourism products.

It aimed to identify priority source markets for 2027–2028 and use public and private sector input to shape a market development approach with clear, competitive and sustainable goals.

AKP attributed the view that the sector should focus not only on increasing visitor numbers but also on selecting appropriate source markets to support sustainable growth and higher tourist spending to Tourism Working Group Co-Chair Lu Meng.

The report presented the seminar as a platform for government and private sector perspectives on the market, with its input intended to contribute to Cambodia’s tourism targets for 2027–2028.
