AKP reported on May 9, 2026 that Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni sent separate letters dated May 8 to Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, thanking them for their messages following his surgery and during his recuperation in Beijing.
The report said the King expressed how deeply their concern had touched him and conveyed his sincere thanks for their wishes for his full and speedy recovery.

According to the same report, the King underwent surgery at a Beijing hospital on April 20. Citing the Ministry of the Royal Palace, AKP said he was recovering well and had been discharged on May 1.
The report added that the King would continue recuperating at the Royal Residence in Beijing and return to hospital periodically for follow-up examinations, medication and continued recovery.
