According to a May 10 statement from Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police, police and military police conducted an operation on the afternoon of May 9 at JIN YU MEN TANG CASINO in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, investigating suspected online scams and unlawful stays by foreign nationals.
Police said some foreign nationals tried to run from the building when officers arrived.Police said officers surrounded the premises, brought the situation under control, detained hundreds of foreign nationals and seized some related items.
The statement said around 400 foreign nationals were being processed for transfer to the General Department of Immigration. Hundreds of others were temporarily held in the casino building for further investigation and questioning.
