According to Xinhua’s May 8 report, the Asian Vision Institute (AVI), an independent think tank based in Phnom Penh, released a survey on Cambodia–China relations. Conducted from December 2025 to March 2026 using online questionnaires and in-person interviews, it involved 2,612 respondents in Cambodia, 97.4% of whom were optimistic about the relationship. The percentage refers to the respondents.
The original article also described respondents’ assessments of cooperation projects: It said the Phnom Penh–Sihanoukville Expressway ranked first with recognition from nearly half of respondents, followed by the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and Cambodia–China Friendship Preah Kossamak Hospital. It used these projects to describe changes in everyday life associated with transport, trade and medical cooperation.
The original article summarised cooperation benefits as improved infrastructure, higher incomes, and more employment and educational opportunities, also mentioning Cambodian agricultural exports to China and the development of Chinese-invested businesses. It argued that such cooperation supported the local economy and shared development.
