According to the original report, ថន ថាវុទ្ធា, governor of Chantrea district in Svay Rieng province, called on residents to work with the authorities to monitor road construction and repairs so that the roads would be durable and meet quality standards.
He made the remarks on May 12, 2026, at the launch of repairs to a concrete road. The report placed the road in Chantrea village, Chantrea commune, Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province, and gave its dimensions as 450 metres long, 5 metres wide and 0.15 metres thick. It described the work as a local development project for 2026.
The district governor said the road belonged to residents, who had the right and responsibility to take part in monitoring construction. If a contractor failed to follow the contract or technical standards, they should immediately notify the local authorities to prevent cutting corners on materials that could undermine road quality and waste public funds.
He urged the contractor to comply with the contract terms and technical standards so that residents would have a strong and durable road.
He also asked residents to be understanding about disruption to travel during repairs and to cooperate with the contractor so that the work could proceed smoothly and be completed promptly.
In addition, ថន ថាវុទ្ធា urged residents to report local security problems, including gambling, theft, youth violence and drug trafficking, to the competent authorities, and to obey traffic laws. He also called for rainy-season preparations, caution around rain, lightning and strong gusts, and timely agricultural work. Text: Pai Sokhim (ប៉ៃ សុឃីម)
