According to the report, the China-Jiangsu General Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia donated 3,000 cases of instant noodles to the General Department of Immigration on the afternoon of May 14, 2026, to assist some Chinese nationals temporarily held while awaiting return to their home country. The report described the donation in the context of the crackdown on online scams.
Contemporaneous reporting listed rotating chamber president Tang Qi, Vice-President and Sihanoukville office head Wang Zhen, and Executive Deputy Secretary-General Shi Mei among the chamber representatives at the handover, with immigration representatives receiving the supplies.
The donation was intended to provide food for Chinese nationals facing difficulties while awaiting their return.
The report described the chamber’s continuing charitable and social activities and said the donation could ease the Cambodian authorities’ food-supply burden while return procedures were being processed.
A chamber representative said, “Abroad, compatriots are family.” The representative described helping one another in emergencies as a Jiangsu tradition and presented the donation as support for the living needs of temporarily held foreign nationals, the Cambodian authorities’ work and people-to-people friendship and cooperation.
The report also said that, between July 2025 and April 2026, authorities acted on more than 250 online scam-related cases and closed 91 casino sites; more than 250,000 foreigners had left voluntarily or been expelled, while some others were still undergoing procedures under Cambodian law.
