According to Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) on May 20, the workshop on International Cooperation in Cybercrime and Trafficking in Person Cases was held in Preah Sihanouk province from May 19 to 21, 2026. Senior Minister Chhay Sinarith presided over the opening ceremony.
Cambodia’s Commission for Combating Online Scams organised the programme in partnership with South Korea’s Ministry of Justice, the European Union and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), to strengthen judicial and police officials’ ability to address cybercrime and transnational crime.
Participants included representatives of Cambodia’s Ministry of Justice, the National Police’s anti-cybercrime and anti-human trafficking departments, and local courts.
In his remarks, Chhay Sinarith described cybercrime as a transnational problem that no country could resolve alone. He said Cambodia, as an open developing country, faced attempts by foreign criminal networks to establish operational bases, and that the government would not allow the country to become a safe haven for international criminals.
The training covered mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, digital forensics and evidence handling, cross-border cybercrime investigations, and the identification and protection of human trafficking victims.
The report said Cambodia had made combating online scams and human trafficking national priorities. Chhay Sinarith thanked South Korea, the EU and UNODC for financial and technical support and stressed international cooperation against transnational crime.
