On the morning of May 21, 2026, Prime Minister Hun Manet presided over the inauguration of Cambodia’s new General Department of Taxation headquarters in Phnom Penh. The department is part of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Hun Manet said the new headquarters reflected the development of state institutions and the government’s commitment to modernising public administration to better serve citizens and the economy. The report also describes tax-service reform as moving towards digitalisation, smarter administration and more convenient services.
The report links the reforms to the seventh government’s Pentagonal Strategy, saying that improved public administration is intended to strengthen fiscal management and better serve taxpayers.
The report also presents peace and stability as a foundation for fiscal and tax reforms, referring to the Win-Win Policy promoted by Hun Sen, the former prime minister and current President of the Senate.
