A provincial workshop to disseminate decisions and consult on management zoning for Koh Rong Marine National Park was held in Preah Sihanouk on May 21, 2026, through cooperation between Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment, China’s National Ocean Technology Center (NOTC) and Fauna & Flora in Cambodia.
Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Long Dimanche (ឡុង ឌីម៉ង់) said zoning within protected areas was important and required careful study to address management challenges. He described the workshop as a strategic step in strengthening protected-area management, balancing conservation in core areas with sustainable resource use in community areas and areas used for daily activities.
The workshop at New Beach Hotel in Preah Sihanouk was chaired by ស្រី ស៊ុនលាង, director-general of the Ministry of Environment’s General Directorate of Protected Areas. Koh Kong Deputy Governor អន សុធារិទ្ធ and representatives of relevant departments in both provinces attended.
Long Dimanche also expressed appreciation to the three security forces. He said that, alongside safeguarding territorial integrity and maintaining public security and order, they played an important role in cooperation against natural-resource offences and maritime crime.
