A report dated May 23, 2026 said Cambodia’s National Employment Agency (NEA), under the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, worked with local authorities to help 61 people deceived by illegal recruitment brokers find legitimate employment. Registration and interviews took place that Thursday in Phnom Penh’s Por Senchey district.
The NEA invited Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone and Booker Garment Factory to take part in recruitment and interview the jobseekers.
According to the report, of the 61 jobseekers, 24 were women. Twenty were offered permanent roles on the spot. The other 41 passed initial screening and were scheduled to visit employers that Saturday for document verification and further tests. Passing initial screening did not mean they had already started formal employment.
The NEA urged jobseekers to be cautious about unverified high-salary recruitment offers and use official and legitimate employment channels.
The original report also advised people facing suspected recruitment fraud or labour disputes to seek help through the ministry’s official hotlines.
