At an AmCham Cambodia event guided by the CDC, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol pledged institutional reform and investor support. Officials heard business concerns, with further consultations and follow-up planned.

A recent dialogue on improving Cambodia’s business environment drew attention to government–business cooperation. At the second government and private sector breakfast, organised by AmCham Cambodia with guidance from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice-Chairman Sun Chanthol signalled strong support for business.

In his closing remarks, he said the CDC would accelerate internal reform, addressing business difficulties through greater administrative transparency and efficiency and strengthening investment protection to support investors’ development.

The high-level dialogue sought direct communication to facilitate investment. Participants included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction Say Samal, Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak, and Minister of Labour and Vocational Training Heng Sour, to hear companies’ concerns.

Foreign business representatives and development partners offered government bodies suggestions on administrative approvals, industrial development and ease of doing business. The organisers said they would follow up on the meeting’s outcomes so proposed solutions to business problems could be implemented.

In his concluding remarks, Sun Chanthol stressed that the government placed private sector development needs at the centre of its work and that the CDC’s internal reforms focused on improving operational efficiency and service quality.

The CDC would consult stakeholders in depth on the views gathered, seeking solutions benefiting the different parties and working towards a more stable and competitive business environment.

Sun Chanthol said he looked forward to presenting concrete reform results and substantive progress at a future third breakfast dialogue.
