The 39th conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and the 42nd annual meeting of the OB-PS community are scheduled to take place in Cambodia’s historic city of Siem Reap from June 14 to 19 this year.
As host, the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia says it is fully prepared to welcome the international gathering. The report says Cambodia’s prime minister’s wife, Pich Chanmony, will preside, reflecting official attention to and support for the exchange.
The meeting’s central theme is “We see, We care, We act.” It aims to bring together global efforts focused on the future of girls and young women. The Cambodian association has extended invitations to international delegates, distinguished guests and partners from different countries.
Officials said Cambodia would offer participants extensive assistance and support, drawing on its hospitality, cultural heritage and friendship, so guests from around the world could discuss the development of girls and young women.
The report describes the meeting as internationally influential and the world association as an organisation with almost a century of history. It says that since its founding in 1928, its headquarters have been based in London, United Kingdom.
The report says its reach has since expanded to 169 member countries, making it one of the world’s most influential Girl Guiding organisations. It describes the Siem Reap meeting as an opportunity for Cambodia to present its distinctive character and friendly image internationally.
