While attending the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training ហេង សួរ made study visits to the SPARK Campus innovation and training centre, FORPRO Watchmaking School and an Automotive Maintenance Center on June 10, 2026.
The visits aimed to study and learn from Switzerland’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system, which the report describes as recognised for its quality and effective response to labour-market needs.
The minister observed innovative training methods and modern equipment and technologies used to develop vocational skills, particularly watchmaking and automotive maintenance.
He also met master trainers and trainees to learn about competency-based curriculum design and training connected to industry’s practical needs. He expressed strong interest in the Swiss TVET model’s close integration of learning at training institutions with practical work in businesses.
Experience gained during the visits would provide important input for modernising Cambodia’s vocational training system, improving skills development, strengthening responses to labour-market demand and making cooperation between training institutions and the private sector more effective.
The hosts welcomed the Cambodian delegation’s interest in learning from Swiss TVET and shared implementation methods, management experience and key lessons that could be considered for use in Cambodia. Both sides also expressed a willingness to continue strengthening cooperation and exchanging knowledge in vocational education and training. By: Pai Sokhim
