A navigation accident near a pillar of the Cambodia–Japan Friendship Bridge, also known as ជ្រោយចង្វារ bridge, on June 11 caused a barge to sink about 500 metres north of the bridge. The General Department of Waterway and Maritime Transport and Ports urged owners, crews and vessel operators passing through to remain highly alert and strictly avoid the dangerous area.
A June 16 notice said the department had placed new hazard buoys at the wreck and designated a safe navigation channel to maintain safe, continuous navigation and prevent further accidents.
The department urged passing vessels, crews and operators to “remain highly vigilant, clearly identify the new hazard buoys, follow the navigation channel correctly and avoid approaching the dangerous area to prevent possible navigation accidents.”
