On the morning of June 18, 2026, Hun Sen received Indonesian senator Henock Puraro, third vice-chair of the parliamentary cooperation committee, for a courtesy meeting at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace.
Senate spokesperson ជា ធីរិទ្ធ said Hun Sen welcomed Henock Puraro and his delegation to Cambodia and thanked them for the hospitality shown to him and his delegation during last year’s visit to Indonesia.
Hun Sen discussed the good relations between Cambodia and Indonesia, both historically and at present.
Henock Puraro thanked Hun Sen for receiving the delegation and praised strong bilateral ties, describing the relationship over the past 75 years as brotherly. He said the countries had considerable potential to strengthen relations, with this visit also promoting trade, investment and education. A principal purpose was to discuss plans for a Southeast Asian senate presidents’ forum previously proposed by Hun Sen and Indonesia’s senate president.
Hun Sen thanked him for his positive assessment, saying ties had remained good and strong throughout history and were being further strengthened and deepened. He urged both governments to make trade, economic and investment relations more open and expand trade, expressing optimism about annual growth in bilateral trade.
Noting that air links already existed, Hun Sen urged more flights to support tourism and more frequent people-to-people exchanges. He also shared ideas for the proposed Southeast Asian senate presidents’ forum, outlining possible core activities and calling for further discussion and study of the framework in which it should operate.
Hun Sen wished Henock Puraro and the delegation an enjoyable stay and a successful visit to Cambodia.
