Preah Sihanouk province: Sihanoukville’s unified command forces raided an illegal cockfighting venue and detained six people who had gathered to gamble on cockfights.
The operation was led by Deputy Governor of Sihanoukville ឃន មន, with legal procedures coordinated by លាវ ស្រេង, prosecutor at the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court of First Instance.
The authorities detained six suspects and seized six fighting cocks, six motorcycles, one scale for weighing cocks and other items associated with illegal gambling.
The suspects and all evidence have been sent to the Sihanoukville municipal police inspectorate for case preparation and legal proceedings.
Nearby residents said the gamblers gathered to hold cockfights and bet money almost daily, disturbing local security, order and peace.
After the operation, residents expressed support and thanked the authorities for timely action to curb illegal gambling and maintain community security.
