Cambodia’s industry minister urged the Cambodia Industrial Economy Promotion Association (CIEA) to help attract quality Chinese companies to invest in Cambodia ahead of the 2026 Cambodia–China Industrial Exhibition.
Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Hem Vanndy made the remarks during a June 24 meeting with a CIEA delegation to discuss preparations for the “Cambodia Industrial Development Congress and Cambodia–China Industrial Exhibition 2026,” scheduled for July 17–18, 2026, in Phnom Penh. The event is expected to bring together more than 200 Chinese companies, industry associations, investors and Cambodian enterprises to create opportunities for cooperation, business matching and industrial and investment partnerships in Cambodia.
Hem Vanndy encouraged the association to attract Chinese investors that can strengthen industrial competitiveness and support Cambodia’s long-term economic structural transformation.
The minister said: “Chinese investors rank first in Cambodia. What Cambodia wants is more than numbers. We want quality investment that brings competitive advantages, technology transfer, innovation and investment in new sectors to support economic diversification and strengthen our industrial base.”
The minister emphasized attracting investment that develops domestic supply chains, connects heavy industry with local enterprises and strengthens Cambodia’s production capacity.
CIEA president LI ZHAN BO said the congress and exhibition aim to provide a practical platform connecting Cambodian and Chinese enterprises, promoting industrial cooperation and facilitating investment projects in Cambodia.
He added: “Our goal is not only to bring investment capital from China to Cambodia, but also technology, human resources, industrial resources and complete supply-chain solutions that can support Cambodia’s industrial development. We hope this event will help more quality Chinese enterprises understand investment opportunities in Cambodia and establish long-term operations here.”
CIEA was established in October 2025 with a mission to promote economic and industrial cooperation between Cambodia and China. Since its establishment, it has organized investment-promotion activities in both countries and worked with Chinese business associations and enterprises interested in investing in Cambodia.
