Deputy Prime Minister and CDC First Vice-Chairman Sun Chanthol held a series of separate meetings with senior management of major Chinese corporations on the previous Saturday evening, after the successful conclusion of a seminar promoting investment in Cambodia.
The meetings examined investment opportunities in strategic sectors where the corporations had international expertise, including energy—hydropower, wind, solar and coal—transport infrastructure, and chemical and fuel engineering, such as petrochemical plants, oil refineries and agricultural-fertiliser factories.
According to Sun Chanthol’s Facebook page, discussions also concerned cooperation to explore new investment opportunities in advanced technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) and drones, to support modernisation and the development of Cambodia’s digital economy.
Sun Chanthol said the confidence and investment intentions of leading Chinese corporations had an important role in Cambodia’s socioeconomic progress. He reaffirmed the CDC’s commitment to coordination, facilitation and full support for investors under Cambodia’s investment law, which he described as favourable and highly open.
He encouraged the companies to conduct further studies on expanding direct investment in green technology and digital innovation. Such projects, he said, would support Cambodia’s clean-energy transition, upgrade industrial value chains and build domestic technical capacity, helping strengthen the Cambodia–China Industrial and Technological Development Corridor on an inclusive and sustainable basis.
