Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged Cambodia’s Interior Ministry, Laos’s Public Security Ministry and Vietnam’s Public Security Ministry to strengthen and expand their relations and cooperation. He said this would help strengthen ties among the three countries and encourage economic, trade and investment cooperation.
He made the remarks on the morning of 30 June during a working meeting at the Peace Palace with Lieutenant General Vanthong Kongmany, Laos’s Minister of Public Security, and General Lương Tam Quang, Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security.
The Lao and Vietnamese ministers described the good cooperation among their ministries and Cambodia’s Interior Ministry, saying it had contributed to stronger and broader relations among the three countries.
They briefed the prime minister on what they described as the fruitful results of the second ministerial meeting among the three ministries, hosted by Cambodia, and affirmed their commitment to further improving cooperation.
In response, Hun Manet recalled the traditional friendship among Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. He referred to the 70th anniversary of Cambodia–Laos diplomatic relations in 2026 and preparations for the 60th anniversary of Cambodia–Vietnam diplomatic relations in 2027, and emphasised further strengthening ties and cooperation among the three countries.
The prime minister and the two ministers also exchanged views on closer security cooperation, especially encouraging authorities in border provinces to work closely to maintain security and develop borders of peace, friendship, cooperation and development. They also discussed closer cooperation against transnational crime, human trafficking, drug smuggling and technology-based fraud.
