Tourism Minister Huot Hak emphasized that promoting domestic travel is an important pillar in sustaining and strengthening the resilience of Cambodia’s tourism sector. He highlighted the “Visit Cambodia in the Green Season” campaign and the concepts “To love the nation, know its land” and “Tourism connects the land.”
He spoke at the opening of a workshop presenting the final assessment of the 2021–2025 tourism development plan and officially launching guidelines on “Capital and Provincial Tourism Development Planning and Performance Assessment.” The guidelines were presented as a key document for stronger planning, monitoring and assessment of tourism results nationwide.
Participants included Tourism Ministry leaders, deputy governors of the capital and provinces, private-sector representatives, development partners and the heads of tourism departments from all 25 capital and provincial administrations.
The minister praised the efforts and close cooperation between the Tourism Ministry and subnational administrations to promote effective and sustainable tourism development.
He advised capital and provincial administrations and tourism departments to strengthen destination promotion, define their branding, develop destination storytelling and identify local signature dishes to improve appeal and competitiveness.
He also announced an “Outstanding Tourism Department” competition for implementation of the 2026–2030 tourism development plan.
