ថោ ជេដ្ឋា, minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, asked the World Bank to continue supporting Cambodia in four priority areas to strengthen water security, food security and climate resilience.
He made the request during working discussions with Guangzhe Chen, a World Bank vice president, on the morning of July 8, 2026 at the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology.
The minister thanked the World Bank for supporting the Cambodia Water Security Improvement Project (CaWSIP) to strengthen water resources management, irrigation systems, meteorology and farmer water-user communities.
He requested continued support for four priorities: successful implementation of CaWSIP; implementation of Cambodia’s water security agreement; long-term investment in the Tonle Sap basin; and expansion of water storage capacity in border areas.
In response, Guangzhe Chen said the World Bank would continue working closely with Cambodia to support priority projects and programmes aimed at strengthening water security and promoting sustainable development.
