At the invitation of the Chinese government, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet departed for China on the morning of July 15 for a three-day official working visit. During the visit, Hun Manet will attend and address the opening of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, while engaging with different sectors in China to discuss cooperation.
The visit runs from July 15 to 17. During his stay, Hun Manet is scheduled to call on Chinese President Xi Jinping and hold bilateral talks with Premier Li Qiang. They will exchange views on developing the Cambodia–China comprehensive strategic partnership and deepening practical cooperation in trade, livelihoods, people-to-people exchanges, technology and other fields, to consolidate cooperation and expand
its scope.
In addition to major bilateral diplomatic engagements, Hun Manet will attend and deliver a public address at the opening of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on July 17. He will also meet Chinese business representatives to connect enterprises from both countries and advance industrial cooperation, particularly in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence.
The high-level accompanying delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn; Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia Sun Chanthol; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Tea Seiha; and other cabinet ministers, senior officials and business representatives, reflecting Cambodia’s emphasis on bilateral relations and the visit.
Cambodia’s Foreign Ministry said Prime Minister Hun Manet’s visit to China was an important diplomatic engagement to deepen traditional good-neighbourly friendship and consolidate mutually beneficial cooperation, reflecting the two sides’ shared commitment to stronger strategic cooperation. It would inject new momentum into their comprehensive strategic partnership, advance the “Diamond Cooperation Framework” and help build an all-weather Cambodia–China community with a shared future in the new era.
The visit is among Cambodia’s recent high-level diplomatic engagements. Previously, ruling-party president and Senate President Hun Sen made an official goodwill visit to China from June 25 to 27. The frequent high-level exchanges underscore the two countries’ enduring traditional friendship and strong strategic mutual trust.
