Authorities raided a Bavet villa on July 15 and detained 33 suspects, including 31 Vietnamese nationals and two Chinese men; three of those detained were women. Equipment and suspected drug crystals were seized for investigation, and the villa was temporarily sealed.

On July 15, the Unified Command of Bavet city in Cambodia’s Svay Rieng province conducted a joint enforcement operation at a local villa suspected of housing online scam activities. Officers detained 33 people linked to the case and seized large quantities of equipment and related evidence.
The operation was led by Bavet Deputy Mayor 赖拉萨 and a deputy commander of the provincial gendarmerie, with coordination from a deputy prosecutor of the Svay Rieng Provincial Court of First Instance. Joint enforcement officers carried out a surprise inspection of the target villa in accordance with the law.
During the operation, 33 suspects were detained, including three women. Preliminary checks found that the group comprised 31 Vietnamese nationals and two Chinese men.
Officers seized computers, phones, routers, SIM cards, passports and other equipment and items suspected of use in online fraud. They also found white crystals suspected to be drugs. The evidence was seized in accordance with the law pending further identification.
All those linked to the case and the seized evidence have now been transferred to the Svay Rieng Provincial Gendarmerie Command for further investigation and handling, while the villa has been temporarily sealed according to law. Enforcement agencies said they would continue stepping up action against transnational offences such as telecommunications and online scams and pursue related suspects and criminal networks in accordance with the law.
