During a recent visit to China, Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak met Yang Xiaoyang, president of China Association for the Promotion of Culture and Arts Development, in Beijing. They exchanged views on strengthening cultural and tourism cooperation, promoting people-to-people exchanges and tourism, and reached broad agreement.
Huot Hak outlined developments in Cambodia’s tourism sector. He said the Cambodian government was stepping up action against online fraud and other transnational crimes to improve the tourism environment. He also said Cambodia had introduced visa-free entry for Chinese citizens to make travel easier, and welcomed more Chinese visitors to experience the country’s attractions and culture.
The two sides agreed to strengthen practical cultural and tourism cooperation through joint art exhibitions, closer cooperation on cultural-heritage protection, development of film, television and digital cultural industries, and arts education and talent training. These efforts were intended to enrich cultural exchanges and improve tourism cooperation.
Yang Xiaoyang said he would organise a delegation to conduct a field visit to Cambodia and submit a specific cooperation proposal to Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism, with the aim of advancing joint projects and deepening bilateral cultural and tourism cooperation.
