Summary

Cambodia’s Information Ministry urged media outlets to sustain HIV-prevention and anti-drug public-service messages. Health Ministry figures cited in the report put the number receiving ART at 71,697 at the end of 2025, with 697 AIDS-related deaths during that year.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Information recently called on media organisations and content creators nationwide to continue public-service campaigns on HIV prevention and drug prevention, improve public health awareness and protective knowledge, and help build a healthy and safe social environment.

The ministry said media outlets, news organisations and content creators across the country had long actively supported public-interest communication, including health education and anti-drug campaigns, helping spread health knowledge and raise public awareness. It urged all media outlets to continue broadcasting HIV-prevention and anti-drug public-service messages frequently from now on, so more people can understand the risks of HIV and drugs, gain scientifically informed knowledge about prevention and treatment, and strengthen health awareness and self-protection.

According to Ministry of Health figures, 71,697 people living with HIV nationwide were receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) at the end of 2025, an increase of 1,703, or 2.43%, from 2024. The country reported 697 AIDS-related deaths in 2025, comprising 688 adults and nine children, a marked decline from about 1,100 in 2024. However, the ministry noted that new infections remained concentrated among young people and other groups at higher risk. Sustained HIV-prevention education and greater public awareness therefore remained priorities for the country’s HIV response.
