Summary

Prime Minister Hun Manet stressed the importance of teachers’ preparation and continued learning at a July 21, 2026 graduation ceremony for more than 1,500 South-East Asia University students in Siem Reap. He also highlighted the shared contribution of parents, educators and school management.

Siem Reap: Prime Minister Hun Manet of the Kingdom of Cambodia said that teachers’ thorough preparation was an important factor in students’ success. Teachers who worked hard to conduct research, broaden their knowledge and prepare lessons well could deliver quality teaching, while educational equipment and learning materials were only supporting tools.

He made the remarks at a graduation ceremony for more than 1,500 South-East Asia University students, held on the morning of July 21, 2026 at the Sokha Hotel in Siem Reap province.

Hun Manet emphasised that students’ success was not the result of their own efforts alone, but of cooperation among parents, teachers, professors, school management and all relevant parties. The awarding of degrees also reflected the development of Cambodia’s human resources, with increasingly high qualifications and capabilities.

He praised South-East Asia University for its active contribution to human resource development in Cambodia, particularly in Siem Reap province, in economics, social affairs, business, science, technology, law, agriculture and rural development, in line with the national development strategy.

Hun Manet also thanked the university for providing more than 340 scholarships to the “សម្ដេចតេជោ និងសម្ដេចកិត្តិព្រឹទ្ធបណ្ឌិត” Scholarship Committee since the 2012–2013 academic year. Of those scholarship students, 27 graduated this year.

He also commended the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport for continuously implementing education policies and reform programmes, helping both public and private higher education institutions develop and improve training quality. Cambodian students, he noted, had participated in and won awards at regional and international competitions in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Hun Manet said the Royal Government had always regarded people as the most important resource for national development. It would continue promoting education and vocational training reforms to make them more effective, equitable and responsive to labour-market needs and sustainable national development.
