Preah Sihanouk province: The Cambodia Hotel Association’s Sihanoukville and Islands chapter (CHA-SHV & Islands) organised a business discussion and cooperation forum, bringing together hotel and resort executives, business owners and relevant partners to analyse low-season challenges, exchange experience and seek joint solutions to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the province’s hospitality sector. The forum took place on the afternoon of July 20, 2026, at Won Majestic Hotel.
ចាន់ សុភា, President of the Cambodia Hotel Association’s Sihanoukville and Islands chapter, said the association held meetings every three months to assess business conditions and coordinate cooperation among members. He said the hotel and hospitality sector had been affected by domestic and external economic factors in the first half of 2026, requiring operators to work together to retain staff, strengthen training and continue improving service quality in preparation for future growth in tourist arrivals.
He added that the forum was attended by owners representing more than 53 hotels, as well as product and service suppliers. The association also expressed support for the Royal Government’s policies to promote green tourism and provide visa exemptions for Chinese tourists, which it expected to help increase international visitor flows to Cambodia.
He also announced that Preah Sihanouk province would welcome delegations from 16 capital and provincial jurisdictions from July 28 to 31, 2026, to visit and study its tourism potential. He called on all tourism operators to prepare to provide quality services and good hospitality to strengthen the province’s appeal as one of Cambodia’s leading tourism destinations.
សុខុម សំអុល, Executive Director of the Siem Reap Tourism Club Association, said participation in the quarterly meeting and the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Sihanoukville hotel association were important steps in strengthening cooperation between the two major tourism destinations. The cooperation focused on human-resource development and training hospitality trainees to meet growing workforce needs in Preah Sihanouk, described as an important tourism destination after Siem Reap.
On that occasion, Chen Ling, Acting Chief Executive Officer of KPS99TV, gave a presentation on “Accessing the Chinese Tourist Market”, outlining strategies to promote Preah Sihanouk’s destinations in China through Chinese-language tourism maps, digital media and social networks popular in China.
He said KPS99TV was developing an Information Map to promote hotels, restaurants, eateries and other tourism businesses, clearly showing locations, geographical features and the province’s tourism potential. He invited operators and business owners to cooperate in promoting their products and services through KPS99TV’s networks to help expand tourism markets and advance Preah Sihanouk’s economy.
