US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) President Brian McFeeters praised the active efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia, including the Ministry of Interior, to eliminate technology-enabled fraud, or online scams, describing the operation as a remarkable effort.
He made the remarks while leading a US-ASEAN Business Council delegation to a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha at the ministry on July 21, 2026.
The council president noted that the ministry’s leaders, relevant authorities and security forces consistently worked to create a favourable environment, giving US companies operating in Cambodia confidence and reassurance in conducting their business.
In response, Sar Sokha stressed that, as an arm of the Royal Government, the Interior Ministry remained firmly committed to eliminating online scam offences, which he described as a burden that must be decisively addressed.
Briefing the delegation on recent results, the interior minister said large-scale scam groups had been almost 100% eliminated, while Cambodian authorities were continuing to dismantle smaller groups. He said more than 300,000 foreign nationals had left Cambodia for their home countries, either voluntarily or through deportation.
Representatives of the individual companies also shared their impressions of investing in Cambodia and their interest in identifying further opportunities to expand their businesses. The interior minister said the ministry stood ready to support and facilitate those investments so they could operate smoothly and grow in Cambodia.
Brian McFeeters told Sar Sokha frankly that he and the delegation had felt welcome and safe during their mission in Cambodia over the preceding few days. He expected the visit to encourage further expansion of US business investment activities in the country.
The interior minister expressed hope that the delegation would widely share what its members had personally seen and learned in Cambodia, particularly the country’s efforts to ensure security and safety and provide conditions for investment without discrimination.
