Construction of the ចាក់អង្រែក្រោម–ព្រែកប្រា bridge across the Bassac River had reached 79% by early July 2026. According to Public Works and Transport Ministry spokesperson ផន រឹម, the bridge will be joined together by the end of 2026, further connecting residents on the western bank and the other side of the river.
ផន រឹម stated on his official Facebook page on July 22 that project progress was as follows: 1. Bridge foundations, 100%; 2. Substructure, 100%; 3. Approach-bridge superstructure, 100%; 4. Main-bridge superstructure, 84%; 5. Road network, 51% (the 804.30-metre connecting road, 50%, and the 1,541-metre directional ramps, 50%).
The bridge’s groundbreaking ceremony was held on the morning of February 19, 2024, chaired by Prime Minister Hun Manet and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia វ៉ាង វិនធៀន. According to the schedule, construction is not behind the planned work programme and is being prepared for completion by the end of 2027.
