Preah Sihanouk: Deputy governor Samut Sothearith said the provincial administration was developing and rehabilitating infrastructure to make the province a leading and diverse tourism destination, full of opportunities and a warm welcome. The work supports economic and tourism development under the master plan to make Preah Sihanouk a model multi-purpose special economic zone and Cambodia’s coastal provinces an interconnected multi-purpose economic corridor.
Presiding over the closing of a tourism sports event at Techo Square in Sihanoukville on the night of July 28, 2026, he said the Royal Government supported the Tourism Ministry’s Green Season campaign. The tourism-marketing initiative targets visitors worldwide by highlighting Cambodia’s beautiful landscapes, rich culture and peaceful environment, while reframing the monsoon season as an ideal time to visit.
The deputy governor added: “To develop the economy and tourism in line with the Royal Government’s master plan for a model multi-purpose special economic zone in Preah Sihanouk and an interconnected multi-purpose economic corridor across Cambodia’s coastal provinces, the provincial administration has been developing and rehabilitating physical infrastructure. This includes roads, improved beaches, clean water, electricity, solid- and liquid-waste management, public toilets, parks, tree planting and tourism ports meeting standards. In particular, we are working to improve tourism services such as transport, accommodation, food and beverages, entertainment and cultural activities. We also seek to preserve our people’s traditional smiles and friendly hospitality, in a spirit of friendship and cooperation, and participate more actively in the clean-city, clean-resort and good-service competition movement, so that the province becomes a leading and diverse tourism destination full of opportunities and warmth.”
