Summary

Three agricultural projects approved on July 28 were reported to involve US$108 million and about 700 prospective jobs.

On the morning of July 28, Cambodia’s working group to promote investment in the northeastern region held its sixth meeting and, according to the report, reviewed and formally approved three agricultural investment projects. They cover coffee and cocoa cultivation, integrated livestock farming, slaughtering and processing, and an agricultural-products processing factory. The meeting was chaired by the working group’s head, ហ៊ាន សាហ៊ីប, a secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, with representatives of relevant departments and the four northeastern provincial administrations attending.

The approved projects were expected to create about 700 local jobs and bring US$108 million in investment to Cambodia. ហ៊ាន សាហ៊ីប said that despite pressure on the global economy, Cambodia remained attractive to investors. During Prime Minister Hun Manet’s visit to China, several large Chinese companies had expressed a clear intention to expand investment in Cambodia.

According to the report, Cambodia’s “Special Investment Promotion Programme for the Four Northeastern Provinces 2025–2028” had received 66 investment applications with a combined value of US$2.478 billion. Of these, 45 projects had been approved, with total investment exceeding US$2 billion, reflecting growing investment interest in the region.
