A landmark agricultural trade event took place on October 3, 2026, when Signature Rice began exporting 5,000 tonnes of Cambodian rice via direct shipping from the Kampot provincial port to the Philippines. This marks a historic first-ever direct-vessel shipment from Kampot and the launch of a regular direct sea route between the two countries.
Market Expansion Strategy and Export Direction Q4 2026 Plan The company plans to export a total of 60,000 tonnes, split into 15,000 tonnes in October and a further 45,000 tonnes during November and December, on a weekly schedule (approximately 5,000 tonnes per voyage).
2027 Outlook The company has set an export target of up to 100,000 tonnes to establish long-term strategic supply partnerships.
Overall Market Size According to the Cambodia Rice Federation, in the first 8 months of 2026 Cambodia exported 122,102 tonnes of rice to the Philippines and is expected to grow to 209,446 tonnes for the full year, while the Philippines has total foreign rice import demand of up to 5.5 million tonnes this year.
Economic Efficiency of Direct Shipping Chan Pich, Managing Director of Signature Rice, stressed that shipping rice via full vessels rather than using containers helps cut logistics costs, increase speed, and allow trade partners to receive larger volumes at one time. More importantly, this mechanism helps maintain the quality of the rice far better and enhances the competitiveness of Cambodian rice in the international market.
Green Production Chain and Sustainability As a member of The Heritage Group, which has exported rice to 36 countries since 2009, Signature Rice has rigorously managed the value chain from paddy field to port.
Agricultural Contracts Signed and working directly with farming communities in key provinces (Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom, Battambang, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey) ensuring traceability and quality standards, applying Zero Waste principles, and becoming the first rice mill in Cambodia and Asia to receive EDGE-certified "Green Rice Mill" status.
This successful step not only strengthens private trade but is also a supporting force for the Royal Government's policy of promoting the export of 1 million tonnes of milled rice, and reflects the fruits of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on agricultural cooperation between the Ministers of Agriculture of both countries, which was signed earlier in 2025.
