A man who worked as a school van driver at a private school in Samraong Leu commune, Ang Snuol district, Kandal province, has been detained and sent for legal proceedings on charges of rape and sexual harassment of children. The Information and Quick Response Unit of the Kandal Provincial Police Commissariat confirmed on October 2, 2026, that following an investigation, authorities identified three girls as victims.
The suspect, identified as ស៊ឹម សុគា, 35, was charged by a prosecutor with "producing, possessing child pornography and committing aggravated rape" after his arrest under an investigative operation request from the Child Protection Unit (CPU). Meanwhile, some local media outlets reported that more than 40 girls may have been victims, but according to records from the Kandal Provincial Police Commissariat, three girls have currently been identified as victims in this case.
According to the Child Protection Unit, the suspect confessed in front of authorities that he had indeed committed the acts as charged. Authorities also found a hidden camera in a girls' room, while the Child Protection Unit stated that the suspect used drugs and liked viewing pornographic images on his mobile phone. The case is currently being processed in accordance with the law.
