The employers' representative, Neak Oknha Nang Sothy, clarified that the actual amount workers in the textile, garment, footwear, travel goods and bags sectors will receive in 2027 is not limited to a base wage of $212 per month, but exceeds $230 when various mandatory benefits are factored in. This is according to local media published on October 3, 2026.
The employers' representative added that, in practice, when including the various legally mandated benefits from employers, the total amount will rise to as much as $231.5 per month, a rate higher than in several other countries in the region.
The additional increase of $19.5 was explained by the Neak Oknha as stemming from a regular attendance bonus of $10, a housing and travel allowance of $7, and transportation and fuel support of $2.5. A separate official announcement on September 30 said the $2.5 travel allowance would continue during the fuel crisis. At the same time, he noted that maintaining the official wage figure at $212 is a smart strategy by the Royal Government and the minister, aimed at preserving competitiveness and attracting even more foreign investment to Cambodia.
