In a context where the global tourism industry is shifting toward travel that delivers value for health, the environment and meaningful experiences, the development of Cambodia's tourism and hospitality sector is also increasingly focused on the principles of Wellness and Sustainability.
This direction is particularly important for Preah Sihanouk province, one of Cambodia's key coastal tourism destinations, endowed with beaches, islands and the potential to develop a wide variety of tourism products. Tourism development here cannot focus solely on attracting visitors and increasing tourist numbers, but must also take into account environmental quality, the preservation of natural resources and community participation.
In this spirit, a knowledge-sharing event on Wellness Activities and Sustainability in Hospitality was organized on October 5, 2026, at the Novotel Sihanoukville Holiday Resort, focusing on sharing experiences and practical approaches to drive the hospitality sector to respond to the needs of a new generation of tourism.
Wellness has become part of the contemporary tourism experience, with a greater focus on physical and mental health. Therefore, hotels, resorts and tourism businesses can no longer offer only rooms and meals, but must create experiences that allow guests to relax, unwind and enjoy wellbeing.
During the program, Mr. Ateeb, the General Manager, shared insights on Wellness activities and the role of these activities in the hospitality sector. Developing Wellness products can include fitness activities, yoga, spa, healthy food, outdoor activities and creating an atmosphere that helps guests feel calm. He encouraged foreign tourists not to forget to travel to Cambodia, because today Cambodia has diverse tourism destinations beyond Siem Reap province, especially Preah Sihanouk province, which has many tourism spots, beautiful islands, fresh scenery, and beautiful sandy beaches, no less than other countries.
For Preah Sihanouk province, Wellness Tourism also has strong potential, as it has natural assets and a coastal atmosphere that can create tourism products linking health with nature. Beach walks, fitness activities in natural areas, water sports, and physical and mental relaxation programs can become part of a high-quality tourism experience.
