Flights between Cambodia and Vietnam could become more frequent in the future! On October 13, 2026, Techo International Airport developer Cambodia Airport Investment Company (CAIC) signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with Vietnam Airlines, aiming to strengthen aviation cooperation and study additional flights between the two countries.

According to the information currently released, the two sides will focus on studying flight frequency between Phnom Penh and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, while assessing the possibility of launching new routes. They also plan to strengthen cooperation in tourism promotion, aviation services and international passenger transfers.

What does this cooperation mean for everyday life? For businesspeople, people visiting relatives, students and tourists who frequently travel between Cambodia and Vietnam, more flights in the future could provide more flexible travel options and help reduce the inconvenience of waiting and layovers. However, the number of additional flights and their launch date have not yet been announced.

Techo International Airport began operations in September2025 and is an important aviation hub in Cambodia. As the new airport develops, attracting more airlines and expanding international routes have become important ways to increase passenger traffic.

Notably, Cambodia's2026 first8 months saw a year-on-year decline of about10% in air passenger traffic. Against this backdrop, the airport's strengthened cooperation with Vietnam Airlines affects not only travel between the two countries but also opportunities in tourism, business and employment. Whether additional flights will ultimately be introduced and attract more passengers will depend on subsequent arrangements and market demand.
