A bomb threat forced an Austrian Airlines flight carrying 51 passengers and 6 crew members, traveling from Tel Aviv to Vienna, to divert and make an emergency landing in Bulgaria on the evening of October 18. A subsequent thorough inspection found no explosive devices.
Aviation agencies reported that the crew of this flight received the bomb threat as the aircraft was approaching Romanian airspace, prompting the Bulgarian Air Force to scramble MiG-29 fighter jets to intervene.
The incident occurred less than three weeks after an incident in which a co-pilot on a Flydubai flight heading to Israel attacked the pilot with a hand axe, apparently intending to crash the aircraft and cause an explosion. By: រិទ្ធី
