H.E. Khvay Atitya, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment, urged joint efforts to protect the environment and stop advertising illegal wildlife trade. He said protecting nature and wildlife is not the duty of any one institution alone, but the responsibility of every Cambodian citizen, as well as state institutions and development partners.

During the “Amazing Nature of Cambodia” event on the afternoon of October 24, 2026, H.E. Khvay Atitya delivered key messages to encourage greater love for and sustainable protection of Cambodia’s natural resources.
The spokesperson particularly emphasized wildlife issues, warning that advertising wildlife trade or displaying wild animals in various forms without authorization is illegal. He explained that such publicity indirectly encourages hunting, trapping and trafficking in wildlife, seriously harming ecosystems and natural resource conservation efforts.

He added: “Protecting nature and wildlife is not the duty of any one institution alone, but the responsibility of every Cambodian citizen, as well as state institutions, development partners, young people and local communities, so that this invaluable natural heritage can be preserved for future generations.” By: Srey Pi
