On October 30, 2026, Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over a gathering and the distribution of rice seed and food to residents affected by rain-induced flooding in Battambang province.
The assistance reflected the Royal Government’s concern for the welfare and safety of people affected by natural disasters, while helping to ease difficulties in their daily lives.
The provision of rice seed is also an important part of supporting farmers in restoring agricultural production and enabling them to resume planting after floods affected some rice crops and farmland.
The activity demonstrated the Royal Government’s attention to addressing urgent needs, particularly people’s safety, food supplies and livelihood recovery, so that farmers can return to agriculture and normal daily life.
The prime minister stressed that the Royal Government would not neglect the people or allow them to die for lack of land or housing. People who genuinely have no land can apply to the state for land. The state has a land-allocation-for-forest-protection project and the LASED project, which are being implemented.
He added that the Royal Government would stand beside the people and help them in emergencies. Following war, Cambodia has also had to contend with flooding.
According to a report by Battambang provincial governor សុខ លូ, a total of 123,072 hectares of rice-growing land were affected. The figures given included 15,638 hectares of mature rice and 74,388 hectares of rice-growing land.
Horticultural and industrial crops were also affected across a total area of 16,374 hectares. Text: សុភ័ក្រ្ត
