Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung in Beijing on November 4, 2026. Le Hoai Trung was visiting the Chinese capital to attend the 11th Lancang–Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, according to a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry.
During the meeting, Wang said China was ready to work with Vietnam to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and countries, strengthen high-level exchanges, expand connectivity by land, sea and air, facilitate trade and investment, and seize opportunities in emerging industries. He said the two sides should also expand cooperation in tourism, human-resource development and people-to-people exchanges. The two countries would strengthen multilateral coordination through East Asian cooperation, handle maritime issues appropriately, and jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea.
Wang also said that current political and economic developments around the world demonstrated the correctness of the socialist path and system chosen by China and Vietnam. The two parties shared ideals, beliefs and approaches to governing their parties and countries. He said they should therefore strengthen mutual learning and support, and further enrich the China–Vietnam community with a shared future in the new era to advance their respective modernization processes.
