Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence said that at 8:15 a.m. on November 5, 2026, the liaison group (CLG) facilitated a visit by the ASEAN Observer Team–Cambodia (AOT-KH) to inspect, verify and report on conditions along the Cambodia–Thailand border at Steung Me Teuk Bridge in Thmar Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province. The bridge was reportedly bombed by Thai Air Force fighter jets on December 13, 2025, causing damage and completely severing the crossing, making it impassable. The ministry said it was purely civilian infrastructure located dozens of kilometres from the Cambodia–Thailand border.

In the same notification, Cambodia reaffirmed its full support for the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), stressing the need to strengthen its role and mandate in monitoring, verifying and ensuring implementation of the ceasefire and measures agreed by Cambodia and Thailand. It said this work was important for transparency, accountability and confidence-building between the two sides, and welcomed friendly countries wishing to support the process.

The Cambodian government and defence ministry also reaffirmed their commitment to fully and strictly respect and implement the relevant agreements. These include the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) of December 27, 2025, and the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand of October 26, 2025. Implementation is intended to promote a return to normal relations and lasting peace and stability between the two countries. By: Sopheak
