Summary

Cambodia’s Defence Ministry said its liaison group facilitated an ASEAN observer visit to the C1 area in Pursat’s Thma Da commune on November 5, following Thai troop movements of an observation post and trench digging about 20 metres forward from the previous position.

At 9:20 a.m. on November 5, 2026, the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) facilitated a visit by the ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia to observe, verify and report on the Cambodia–Thailand border situation in the C1 area of Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province. The inspection followed activities by Thai troops to move an observation post and continue digging trenches about 20 metres forward from the previous position. It also examined compliance with and implementation of the measures set out in the joint statement following the ceasefire.

Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed its full support for the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), stressing the importance of strengthening the team’s role and mandate in monitoring and ensuring full and effective implementation of the ceasefire and the measures agreed upon by Cambodia and Thailand. The mechanism also helps promote transparency and accountability between the two sides.

The Cambodian Defence Ministry also called on Thailand to respect and implement the agreements reached in good faith and with sincerity, particularly the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) dated December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand dated October 26, 2025, and other relevant agreements. It urged peaceful, just and lasting solutions in accordance with international law and the existing agreements between the two countries. By: Sopheak
