To ensure safety and avoid possible dangers when travelling through Cambodia–Thailand border crossings, the Labour Ministry called on Cambodian workers living and working in Thailand to remain patient and calm, and to continue living and working normally at their workplaces. It urged them to avoid gatherings or travelling back to border crossings until the situation returns to normal. The appeal came as the Thai military’s expanding attacks along the border on Cambodia’s sovereign territory had entered their third week as of December 22.
The ministry said anyone facing threats, intimidation or harassment should seek safety protection through the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok, the labour attachés in Bangkok and Sa Kaeo Province, the United Nations, the International Labour Organization, the International Organization for Migration, and migrant worker resource centres in Bangkok, Chiang Mai Province and Mae Sot.
