Summary

Ambassador Wang Wenbin said on December 29 that China was ready to provide necessary support, including ceasefire monitoring, humanitarian aid and demining cooperation, and hoped the Yunnan trilateral meeting would help rebuild trust and reconciliation.

China has said it is ready to provide all necessary assistance and support, including ceasefire monitoring, humanitarian aid and demining cooperation. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin stated this on his Facebook page on December 29.

His statement followed the Cambodia–China–Thailand trilateral meeting in Yunnan on December 29, at which the three sides reached an important understanding on implementing the ceasefire and rebuilding trust between the two neighbouring countries. The report described Thailand’s military action since December 7 as an invasion of Cambodian territory.

The ambassador’s Facebook post expressed hope that this gathering would heal wounds caused by the conflict, remove barriers in each other’s hearts, and genuinely achieve reconciliation. Only then could it serve the interests of the Cambodian and Thai peoples and reflect the shared aspirations of all parties concerned.

The Chinese ambassador emphasised that China would always work to promote the development of Cambodia–Thailand relations, and looked forward to and firmly believed in an early return of those relations to their proper course.
